Welcome to wonderland! I am Alicia Fraser Stanley, and I am a lifelong Catholic, newlywed wife, new home owner, first-time expectant mommy, artist, photographer, jewelry designer, homesteader, pet parent, vintage-loving fashionista, cook, baker, crafter, and DIY enthusiast. My husband and I recently purchased our dream home, and we are currently devoting much of our time to creating our dream garden and decorating the house in our unique style.
I am documenting the whole house transformation here on my blog. Expect to see TONS of gardening posts, DIY projects, and all of my decorating projects. We live in Los Angeles with our 6 pets. My husband and I have a shared passion for photography, hiking, snowboarding, biking, hot tea, digging through vintage stores and flea markets, wandering through gardens, and about a million other things. One of the happiest days of my life was Easter 2011, when my husband was baptized Catholic, not long after our wedding. My husband’s primary occupation is not photography, but together we do wedding photography and more with A+C Photography.
My career path in life has been an interesting and winding journey. I started out studying engineering, and realized that I was happiest when I was doing something artistic and creative. I left engineering to go to fashion school. I had big hopes and dreams that I would be able to make a difference in the industry, and help young girls realize that you can be fashionable and dress modestly at the same time. After a while, I realized that much like in “The Devil Wears Prada,” the fashion industry is an ugly field, and it is a very tough place to work if you try to keep your life Christ-focused. I came to the realization that I wanted to focus my talents on more positive areas of life. That is when my husband and I decided to start our own photography business.
While I still love fashion, I don’t necessarily follow trends, but follow my own unique style. I try to occasionally post “What I Wore” features, showcasing my love of vintage/eclectic style. I love all things vintage, and love to spend an afternoon digging through vintage and thrift stores. I don’t sew as much these days as I did when I was i fashion school, but occasionally you may also see an item or two that I have sewn myself!
I hope you enjoy visiting my little corner of the world!
